April Ater, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist

April received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy degree from Texas Tech University in 1996. Since graduating, April has worked as an occupational therapist in a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient, and schools. April finds working with children to be the most rewarding. She is passionate about assisting her students with the skills necessary to be able to participate and learn in the classroom setting. These skills may include fine motor, eye-hand coordination, handwriting, visual perceptual skills, muscle strengthening, bilateral coordination, and sensory processing. As an occupational therapist, she provides consultation with teachers for classroom modification and strategies for which would most benefit the student’s success in the classroom.
