Hello! My name is Diane Wagemaker and I am excited to be your child’s second grade teacher!
I believe that each child has something special and unique they can bring to their own education. My goal is to foster the individuality of each student and make learning meaningful, hands-on, and applicable. I believe this helps students rise to the occasion and take ownership of their learning.
In our classroom we are creative, we think critically, we exercise our brains and our bodies, we respect each other, we laugh, and we have fun. This year I look forward to many outdoor and out-of-classroom learning experiences. Some field trip opportunities may include: Hart Prairie, Griffith Springs, Tynkertopia, Willow Bend, and more!
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Saint Mary’s College, Indiana and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. Prior to teaching at Mountain School, I taught second and third grades in Glendale, Arizona. I also took a few years off to stay at home with my two daughters.
I have the unique experience of being a Mountain School parent before taking on the role as second grade teacher. Speaking as a parent and professional, Mountain School provides a safe, caring, challenging, and FUN learning environment. I am thrilled to be sharing it with your child!
I encourage parent communication and involvement. You can easily reach me at the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you. I look forward to an amazing year!
