What is the enrollment process for Kindergarten thru 5th grade?
We do enrollment for Kindergarten-5th grade by lottery. Our lottery period is from September 1st-January 31st for the following school year. You can call 928-779-2392 and ask for our Registrar to get your child’s name on our lottery list. We do the lottery mid-February and will notify families if we have an opening for them once the lottery is completed.
What is the age requirement for Kindergarten?
Your child must be 5 by August 31st to be eligible for school that year.
Are there any fees associated with your school?
There is a $150 activity fee requested at the time of enrollment. This fee funds our enrichment programs such as Music, PE, Spanish as well as our field trips for our students. This fee is tax credit eligible therefore cannot be refunded by the school. You will receive the entire amount back on your annual state tax return.

Do you offer half day or Full day Kindergarten?
We offer both a half day and full day kindergarten program. Half day kindergarten is funded entirely by the state. There is a fee for full day kindergarten, please call the registrar for more information about this.
What are the hours for half day Kindergarten?
The hours for half day kindergarten are Monday-Thursday 8:30 am- 11:30 am and
Friday’s from 8:30 am -12:30 pm.
What are your school hours for the Full day Kindergarten thru 5th grade?
Our school hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30 am to 3:00 pm and Fridays from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Fridays are our early dismissal day.
What kind of curriculum do you follow?
Our curriculum is based on the Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards for grades K-5. We choose and create our curriculum with the whole child in mind. Our goal is to foster an independent spirit and innate love of learning. Childhood is a time of exploration, and we celebrate the important work of making connections from school to the world beyond, learning about ourselves and others, and gaining independence and mastery with meaningful practice.
Can I tour your school?
We have an open house on the last Thursday of January which allows all lottery applicants to tour the school, meet the classroom teachers, hear about our programs and ask questions. Please call our registrar at 928-779-2392 to find out what day in January this is taking place.
How old does my child need to be to attend your Pre-K program?
Your child must be 4 by August 31st of the current school year to attend Pre-K.
How many days a week is your program and what are the hours?
Our program is a 5 day a week program. Half day hours are Monday-Thursday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and Fridays, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Full day hours are Monday-Thursday from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm and Fridays, 8:30 am-12:30 pm.
How do I register and what are the prices for Pre-K?
We start enrolling for Pre-k after the Open House in January for the following Fall School year. Registration is on a first come first serve basis for Pre-K. We accept the first 20 applications turned in with the registration fee. The price for half day is $350 a month and the price for full day is $650 per month. Please contact the registrar at 928-779-2392 to get an application. Scholarships available to qualifying families on a first come, first serve basis
Does enrollment in Pre-K guarantee me a spot in Kindergarten?
Pre-K is a private program and does not guarantee enrollment into Mountain Charter School. Your child must go through the lottery like other interested families wanting to enroll in Kindergarten.
Are you part of Flagstaff Unified School District?
No, we are not part of the Flagstaff Unified School District. As a public charter school, we are our own district.
Do you have before and aftercare?
Yes, we do. Please see our Before and Aftercare page under the Our Program section on our website.
Does your school offer any special programs?
Yes, all of our students receive 5 special classes per week; Spanish, Art, PE, and Music. Additionally, Kindergarten thru 1st grade participate in Creative Movement and 2nd- 5th grades participate in Team MasterMind.
Do you offer any after school clubs?
Various clubs are offered at different times of the year and are run by staff members. Some of our clubs have been Girls on the Run, Choir, Spanish Club, Jump Rope Club, Newspaper Club, Sustainability Club, Drama Club and Gardening Club.
Do you have bussing?
No, we do not have a bus. Parents must drop off and pick up their children each day.
Do you offer a hot lunch program?
No, we do not have a hot lunch program. We do have lunch offerings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. Please refer to the Parent advisory page under the parent section on our website for lunch order forms and details.
Do you follow Flagstaff Unified School District School calendar?
Our school calendar varies a little from Flagstaff Unified School District’s calendar. Please see the current academic year calendar link on our home page of the website for more information.
What is your snow day schedule?
We follow Flagstaff Unified School District for our snow schedule. If Flagstaff Unified School District has a delay, we do also. If they call a snow day, we follow that as well. On an early release day, we do not extend our day, we dismiss at the normal early release time of 12:30 pm. Please see the link on our website for the FUSD snow report to see if we are on a 2 hour delayed schedule or if school has been cancelled.
