Welcome to Ms. Melissa’s Fourth Grade Class!
Dear Fourth Grade Families:
Hello there! Happy summer to you all. I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know you! This school year will be spectacular! I began my teaching career in the fall of 1997 in Phoenix and have been happily married for 18 years. Kevin and I have two daughters, Bridget (14) and Elizabeth (4) and a German shepherd named Piper. Bridget will be attending FHS this year and Elizabeth will be in Pre-K here at Mountain School. I am very excited to teach fourth grade! I have a master’s degree in elementary education and have been working towards a second master’s in educational leadership/principal certification. I have experience teaching in public (Madison School District: K-2nd grade- Phoenix), parochial (St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School: 3rd grade-Phoenix & SFdA: 6th-8th grade- Flagstaff), and charter (Mountain School: 5th grade) schools. I also feel grateful to have been able to spend a few years at home with my girls when they were babies. Our family is thrilled to be back at Mountain School this year!
I support and plan on adhering closely to Mountain School’s mission and philosophy. This year one of my goals is to provide clear objectives that lead us to successful results for your child. I would like to support you as the primary educator of your child to raise happy, healthy, loved, educated, acknowledged, respected and successful children. I would love for parents to be able to volunteer their valuable time in the classroom. I would like to know what your expertise and talents are and how they will fit into the 4th grade curriculum and then I will provide training and volunteer opportunities so that your valued input can be utilized. The Parent Orientation night on August 15th at 6:00 and this will be the time when I will be able to give you information about the curriculum, behavior expectations and classroom routine.
Mrs. Angie Fritz will continue to be the instructional aide for fourth grade. She is amazing, and I feel thankful that she will be my aide this year. For regular classroom communication, I will email a weekly classroom newsletter. This will begin once I have all your email addresses. I’d love to meet you in the classroom on Wednesday, August 8th from 10:00-11:00 am. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
