Grade 1, 5/22/17, Newsletter

Good Morning, Parents!

Only two more weeks and the children will be 2nd graders!  We sure have enjoyed teaming with you all and each other to help them learn and grow this year! The end of the year is always bittersweet. Thankfully we have a little more time for learning and fun!

As you know, we will be going on a field trip to the public library! We all are looking forward to it!  One thing we will do there is hear about the summer reading program. Consider having your kiddos participate if you are interested. I’m not sure how the prizes work this year, but in the past my own children have received passes to the Aquaplex, the ice rink, and even Flagstaff Extreme (along with various other things.)

Wednesday, May 24th is Bike to School Day!  If possible, ride to school that day!

We are wrapping up our last math topic of the year in the next few days. The children will take their final math test this week – most likely on Wednesday.  We are continuing to learn about “bossy r” in phonics and are wrapping up our Kevin Henkes author study.  We have more beans growing in our classroom!  These ones will be planted in the Mountain School garden to be harvested by the second graders (our kiddos!) next fall!

Please let us know if you have any questions.  Have a great week of beautiful weather!
Love,
*Sheri and Laura
